Hope to see everyone at the show this weekend. Don't forget your costumes for the Halloween costume class.
The trail ride Saturday was said to be a success. The people who went enjoyed the ride, a cookout and fishing.
Remember that we are still doing pull tabs and cell phones. If you have any and want to get rid of them, you can give them to Leslie at the show.
For those of you that haven't heard Trysten Taylor was recently in a horse related accident and is in the hospital, but now recovering at home. Please keep her in your prayers. We will be putting together a get-well basket at the show this weekend, so if you would like to add to it please bring it to the show. We will set have it set in the office with a card to sign.
See you Friday!

Everyone remember to keep collecting pull-tabs and travel size shampoos, conditioners, soaps, etc. for the Ronald McDonald House. Also old cell phones for our Cell Phones for Soldiers service project. Help us help our soldiers keep in contact with family and friends! We are always looking for new projects if anybody has new ideas let me know!
Hope to see you all in April!!! Hannah Herman

It was great to see everyone at the Awards Banquet. A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Jana Rippey for earning the 2009 Sportsmanship Award. Jana’s actions set a great example for our Oklahoma youth! Way to go Jana!
Looking for a great way to spend your Valentine’s Day??
Come with us to the Ronald McDonald House at 1301 NE 14th Street, Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 10:00 am; followed by lunch and the ever-popular SCRAPBOOKING MARATHON!!
For anyone who hasn’t been to the House before, you need to come for this special experience. This is a place that “provides a home away from home for families of critically ill or injured children receiving treatment in the Oklahoma City area.” It is a great opportunity for you to see how all the pull-tabs we collect are used. The House is decorated to be fun for the kids and relaxing for the parents.
Since our visit was so well received last year, we decided to again make our annual trip to the House on Valentine’s Day. Because the residents were so thankful for the home-made treats we took last year, we ask that you please bring some cookies, cupcakes, or other baked treat to leave at the House for the guests. In addition, if you would like to share a Valentine card with the residents, I know they would be appreciative. This is an awesome opportunity to share ourselves with this great charity.
After visiting the Ronald McDonald House, we will caravan to eat lunch, and then go to the Brawner’s for Scrapbooking. This is your chance to show your style, not only on your personal pages, but also in our activity pages. WE NEED YOU to come join in the friendship and be a part of the 4X REGIONAL CLUB OF THE YEAR! Bring pictures for your personal pages and any others you want to include in the scrapbook. We need stickers, glue sticks, stickers, colorful paper, stickers, and stickers, etc. (no puffy stickers), but most of all, we need help!
If you can’t make it out to join us, you need to have your individual pages (8 ½ X 11) to Leslie no later than February 13, 2010 for inclusion in the scrapbook. The scrapbook has to be mailed to the ApHC office no later than February 20…..
And finally….. Remember we will be electing officers for 2010 during Halter at the March 6 & 7 Show in Ardmore. We hope to see you all there and we look forward to a great show season.
Hope we see you there!
Brenna

Mark your calendar for January 9, 2010, our Year-end Awards Banquet! The Banquet will be at the Clarion Meridian Hotel in Oklahoma City – dinner is at 6:30pm with the meeting and awards starting at 7:30pm. We will be having a short youth meeting at the banquet to discuss activities for the 2010 show season and the upcoming officer elections. We need everyone’s input on how to get the youth motivated and interested in participating in our activities. If you have any ideas for fun challenges or events for this year, please attend the youth meeting! Our youth club will not survive without EVERYONE being involved.
Our 2009 Youth Sportsmanship Award winner will be announced at the Banquet. Every year this is awarded to a youth member that displays the characteristics of good sportsmanship throughout the show season. The definition of sportsmanship is: conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports; especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing. Be sure to attend the banquet to see the winner of this special award.
It is almost Scrapbooking time! If you have taken any pictures during this show year, we need them for our scrapbook. We will be collecting pictures at the Awards Banquet and will be assembling the scrapbook in February. Last year we have visited the Ronald McDonald House and then spent the rest of the afternoon doing the scrapbook. We are confirming a date in February of 2010 to visit and scrapbook. Please watch your email for more information. If you want to get a head start on your personal page, all that is required is an 8 ½” X 11” page. Anything goes to show your personal style. We also want to include any other activities you are involved in or any honors you have received. If you need ideas, you can see our winning scrapbook from 2008 at www.appaloosa.com ; just click on youth and follow the prompts to our “online scrapbook.”
Our Ronald McDonald House charity project is ongoing, so remember to keep saving pull-tabs and collecting travel size bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. Everyone please save your old, working, or non-working cell phones for our service project, Cell Phones for Soldiers. Help our troops “PHONE HOME!”
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year!
Come show with us!

Another Oklahoma App season is over. I hope everyone had a fun and successful show season this year in the OAHC. If you have taken any pictures during this show year, we need them for our scrapbook. We will be collecting pictures at the Awards Banquet (date will be early January 2010) and will be assembling the scrapbook in February. If you want to get a head start on your personal page, all that is required is an 8 ½” X 11” page. Anything goes to show your personal style. We also like to include in our scrapbook, any honors or activities you have. We have a talented youth group, so be thinking about what you can contribute to our scrapbook. If you need ideas, you can see our winning scrapbook from 2008 at www.appaloosa.com ; just click on youth and follow the prompts to our “online scrapbook.”
Our October Silent Auction was a success! The Youth group would like to thank the following people for their donations to our silent auction and youth fund: the Halterman’s, Royce Crosby, Melissa Parker, the Herman’s, the Brawner’s, Jerry Parker, Clarisse Nicola, Dina Miller, the Letham’s, and Stone Ranch Designs. Our auction, t-shirt sales, and donations raised $474.00. Thank you to everyone that continues to support the Oklahoma youth. Be sure to check out the picture page for some great shots of our annual Halloween costume class. We had nerds, cavemen, and even a princess.
I want to wish everyone Good Luck at the World Show. The show starts Friday, October 24, 2009 and runs through Saturday, October 31, 2009, in Fort Worth, Texas. As always, Oklahoma will have great representation at this year’s World Show.
Ballots for our Sportsmanship Award will be mailed out in early November. Be thinking of an OAHC youth member that has exhibited good sportsmanship throughout the show season. The definition of sportsmanship is: conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports; especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing. Vote for the youth member that you think best fits this description.

Is everyone back to school? It sure seems like summer came and went too quickly. Even though summer is officially over L and everyone is trying to get back into the school routine, our youth group still has some fun stuff coming up.
Please join us for our annual SWIM PARTY! We will be having a back-to-school, end-of-summer swim party at my house on August 29, 2009. That is Saturday from 2pm-4pm. We won’t be having a meal, but hopefully lots of snacks. If you plan to come, please bring a snack food like chips & dips, fruit, cookies, or veggies. Also, please email Leslie at HermanShowHorses@earthlink.net or Holly at RocknB4@aol.com , if you are coming so we will have an idea of how many to expect.
The Oklahoma State Fair show will be here before you know it and I hope everyone has a great time there. Our October 17-18th show in Purcell will be the location of our first ever Pancake Breakfast. Our youth (and their moms) will be flipping pancakes for donations. We are out of funds, so everyone needs to chip in for supplies. We are hoping that pancakes and coffee will start everyone’s day off right as well as help our youth raise some much-needed money. Also, start thinking now about a Halloween Costume for you and your horse for our Annual Halloween Costume Class at the Purcell show. Make sure the Purcell show is on your calendar because I have heard that we might have some surprise games and activities……
It was great to see most everyone at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa. The Appaloosa show was triple in size from last year and will hopefully keep growing. I’m sure everyone walked away with lots of great prizes. The youth team tournament was huge. Over 80 kids participated and our Apps were well represented. Nice jacket, jeans and shirts!!
If you haven’t received your new T-shirts, they will be available at the swim party. The youth group’s main expense during this year was to provide all members with a free t-shirt. To keep this tradition going, we have to do some fundraisers! We need PARTICIPATION to keep going. If you ordered a shirt (non-youth members), the price is $20.00. We will also accept any donations that you would like to make to help pay for the youth shirts.
Our charity project is ongoing, so remember to keep saving pull-tabs and collecting travel size bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and lotions for the Ronald McDonald House. Also, our service project, Cell Phones for Soldiers, is underway. Everyone please bring old, working, or non-working cell phones to our shows. Help our troops “PHONE HOME!”
I hope everyone had a fun summer and success during your summer shows!

I hope everyone is having a great summer! Congratulations to our members that braved the heat and humidity in Jackson. The show was smaller than last year, but still lots of good competition. It was great seeing friends who live across the country and great to be with those friends close by. I want everyone to know that the younger youth classes (12 & Under, 10 & Under, and Leadline) were really down in entries. It is kind of scary to think about our Appaloosa future when the younger kids’ age groups have dropped so much in entries. Sooooo, if you know of any, or show outside breed shows with younger kids, encourage them to come to our breed shows and help our youth grow again!!
Since our Oklahoma Youth club didn’t have a youth team this year at the Youth World Show, I was asked to be on the “Lone Star Legends”. Just wanted to tell you about the Reserve World Championship that the team won; we also received the Team Spirit Award, and won the Team Challenge. If you see any of our Texas youth members, please congratulate them on a great job of showing and teamwork.
Our new t-shirts are in! We have used all of our budget to pay for the shirts for our youth members. What this means is that we need to do some fundraisers! We need ideas AND participation to keep going. If you ordered a shirt (non-youth members), the price is $20.00. We will also accept any donations that you would like to make to help pay for the youth shirts. Please think of some fundraising ideas for our October show…..
If we can raise the money, we will again be having our annual Swim Party. If everyone will be willing to bring a dish or make a contribution, we will be having our party in August. This is always so much fun so please watch the website for more details.
Don’t forget about the Appaloosa show at the Reichert Celebration. It is August 7-9, 2009 in Tulsa. You might want to read about the Team Tournament. By just being on a team, you will receive a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a jacket. It is a great chance to get to meet youth from other breeds. The deadline for the youth team is Monday, July 20. Info is available at www.ReichertCelebration.com.

Is everyone ready to show this weekend? Our third OAHC show is this weekend, May 23-24, 2009. If we have enough interest, we will be a doing a surprise activity!?!
We had a great turnout for the April show Easter egg hunt. Be sure to check out the photos on the website. A big thank you goes out to Joe Lankford for his great pictures…We had over 500 eggs and lots of hunters. The egg hunt was followed by an egg-and-spoon race with the spoon held in our mouths. Everyone had fun and no one was hurt!
The most important youth issue right now is our T-shirt design. Please bring any ideas or suggestions to the show. Your t-shirt sizes are also needed if you plan to order a shirt for this year. Please give Leslie or me your sizes this weekend. We are hoping to have a short meeting during the show, so please listen to Jim’s announcements for further info about time and place.
As of today, no one has confirmed going to the Youth World in Jackson, Mississippi. The deadline for youth team entry is May 31. If you are going to Jackson and want to be on a team, please notify Leslie this weekend.
I hope to see everyone at our third OAHC show this year, May 23-23, in Barn 8 at the OKC Fairgrounds!

Do you have your calendar marked for our next show? It is coming up quickly on April 11-12, 2009. If you didn’t already know, this is Easter weekend. The youth is planning a big Easter egg hunt and we need your help. Everyone needs to bring candy-loaded eggs to donate to the hunt. This “eggs-travaganza” can’t be successful without your participation. If you think you are too big to hunt eggs, come anyway. You can help hide eggs, fill eggs, or help the younger kids search for eggs.
We will also be having a baked goods “donation” table. Please bring cookies, cupcakes, donuts, brownies, fruit, or any other food item to help with this fundraiser.
We all know that it is especially hard missing Church on Easter Sunday, but that won’t be a problem either. If you haven’t been to one of Earl Brady’s Easter Sunday Worships, you are really missing out. His service will be Sunday morning about an hour before the show starts…
A big Congratulations goes out to Jaclynn on receiving the 2008 Reichert Foundation Scholarship. Jaclynn continues to set a good example for all of us. Be sure to visit www.ReichertCelebration.com to read all about Jaclynn and her accomplishments. Jaclynn, we are proud that you are a member of our OAHC youth! Way to go..
It is that time of year again. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for our annual T-shirt design? We need to get sizes and input from ALL our members. If you are planning to go to the Youth World Show in Jackson, Mississippi this summer, Leslie needs to know. We need to get a team signed up for the Team Tournament if we have enough members going.
Remember to keep saving pull-tabs and start collecting travel size bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and lotions for our Ronald McDonald House Charity. Also, our Cell Phones for Soldiers service project is underway. Everyone please bring those old, working, or non-working cell phones to our shows. Help our troops “PHONE HOME!”
I hope to see everyone at our second OAHC show this year, April 11-12, at the newly renovated Barn 8 in Oklahoma City – YEA!

THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN OUR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE VISIT AND OUR SCRAPBOOKING MARATHON!
The Youth Club visited the Ronald McDonald on February 14, 2009 at 10:30 am. Those in attendance were Brenna, Tori, & Holly; Hannah, Riley, & Leslie; Jesse & Tracy; Hattie, Donna, & Joe; and Katie & Clarice. We brought hand-made Valentines and lots of homemade treats. Our collection of pull-tabs was amazing this year. Thanks to everyone who has been saving the tabs throughout the year. KEEP SAVING YOUR PULL TABS…. We also found out that the Ronald McDonald House directly receives all the money collected in those coin bins at all the McDonald’s restaurants across the country. So, instead of dropping that change into your pocket, drop it in the bins instead. Your coins can add up to a great help for this charity. The House also collects travel size bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and lotions – so for those of you that travel a lot – pick up those small hotel bottles and bring them to a show for donation to the House.
The staff told us that the House was full to capacity (15 families) and that all our treats would be greatly appreciated by all. Isn’t it nice to make a difference??
A HUGE thank you goes out to Hannah, Riley, Tori, Hattie, Sarah, Jessica, Jesse, Karen, Laura, Melissa, Tracy, Donna, and Holly for the marathon scrapbooking. Having help this year was such a great thing. LESLIE – we could not be 3X Regional Club of the Year without all your hard work. I want everyone to know about all the work and worry you put into our club. We created over 116 pages of memories and had lots of fun doing it, but you put it all together and always make sure we are the best we can be. On behalf of our Youth Group—THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HORSESHOES!!
Just a reminder that we have started a new service project for this year and your help is needed: Cell Phones for Soldiers is an organization that collects old cell phones to donate to our troops. Everyone please bring those old, working or non-working cell phones to our shows and help our troops “PHONE HOME!”
I hope to see everyone at our first OAHC show this year, March 7-8, in Ardmore. Come join our fun and see what fun games and challenges await the youth this year!
Come show with us!
